Louie to meet the President.........

Posted: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 | | Labels:

Team USA athletes have been visiting the White House since President Gerald Ford first invited the team in 1976 following the Montreal Games.  It's an opportunity for the country and it's leadership to formally recognize the Olympic athletes for representing their country with distinction on one of the world's greatest stages.

Teamusa.org will have complete coverage of the event, and will be making on-the-spot updates and postings via Facebook and Twitter. There will also be a live webcast of the President's speech to the Olympians on April 21st from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. EDT, which can be viewed at www.teamusa.org.
This will be Vito's first time he has experienced a visit to the White House.

In addition to visiting the White House, Team USA athletes will also take a tour of the Pentagon where they will meet Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, and will meet with injured soldiers and marines at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The athletes will also visit with local school children and assist with the construction of a new home as part of the Habitat for Humanity project.

For complete coverage of all the events, including athlete interviews, photos, videos and behind-the-scenes features, follow the U.S. Olympic Team on Facebook and Twitter, and check back often with teamusa.org.

Good day to all.

Recently I was contacted by NBC Channel 9 about doing some  snowboarding in the city.  They had scene a picture or 2 from a featured story in the DENVER POST and some other snowboard publications with photos of my riding in Denver, and they really were hoping to cover a story on some FUN rather than depressing news.

So, we met up with them for a really quick session of 1 hour and got a couple tricks and they experienced the building process.  Most importantly, I tried my best to educate them on the concept of what we do to hopefully influence other snowboarders to try it out too!
Let's continue to open peoples minds up to the many ways you can have FUN snowboarding and in the future SNOWBOARDING will grow in more ways than just park riding and heli trips.

Andrew Taylor Visits The Post Office

Posted: | | Labels:

Monday after Sea Otter was the post office jam in Aptos. All the dirt jumpers and even some of the racers that were at sea otter made there way over to hangout and shred the jumps. It was a good turn out with tons of riders and even more spectators. The weather was good besides a little bit of wind so the session went all day from noon and didn't finish until we couldn't see the jumps anymore. Most of the rider wore a GoPro POV camera's throughout the day for the GoPro/pinkbike.com contest. The idea for the contest is each rider will have there own video on pinkbike.com in a few days and pinkbike users will vote for there favorite video and winner takes $500. Everyone was getting creative with the cameras and killing it on the jumps so there should be some awesome videos so check out pinkbike.com in a few days and vote for your favorite video. For now here are a few photos from the Jam.

Cheers
