It is now official. Louie Vito is a member of the United States Snowboarding halfpipe team for the upcoming Olympic games in Vancouver.

The announcement came during a ceremony following the final U.S. Grand Prix event at Park City, Utah.

"We tried to work it out mathematically and it looked like he had it, but you just never know because coach's discretion goes into the decision," said Louie's father Lou on Sunday by phone from Utah. "Seeing him come out with his Olympic uniform on, we could finally rest easy. It's finally over."

The Olympic halfpipe competition is set for Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Cypress Mountain, which sits on the outskirts of Vancouver.
